I have thoughtfully designed a simple but fun pattern and curated all of the tools and rug hooking supplies you need to complete this cute 6-inch rainbow so you can relax and enjoy making your own art. Punch needle/rug hooking is a super easy craft to pick up--even if you don't consider yourself artistic or "crafty".

This kit has everything you need to complete the fuzzy rainbow you see in the photos. It comes with two 6-inch hoops. One plastic no-slip hoop so you can get your backer fabric nice and tight for optimal punching (a MUST for any punch needle project). The other hoop is wood you can use for framing and hanging your final rainbow!

It also has a quality 4.5-inch punch needle that creates soft loops in the monks' cloth fabric. The yarn is high-quality 100% cotton DK weight yarn in beautiful rustic colors of pink, yellow, and beige.

And the best part is--you can use the no-slip hoop and punch needle again and again for more punch needle projects once you're done.

What is punch needle embroidery?
Punch needle embroidery is a stitching technique that uses a punch needle tool to create loops of yarn or embroidery thread through monk’s cloth, primitive linen, or weaver’s cloth to create a design, lettering, or pattern. It is an easy craft to learn and pick up quickly!

What is the difference between punch needle and rug hooking?
The two techniques are compared as similar in that they create the same stitch, but in different ways with different tools. The punch needle pushes the yarn or thread through the holes in the fabric, while rug hooking hooks the yarn and PULLS it through the fabric.

How does a punch needle yarn stay in the fabric?
Punch needle loops stay because they are being held by the fabric’s weave. Every time you punch, the needle is actually poking through the weave in the fabric. Once the needle is punched in, the yarn pushes through the weave. Then when the needled is pulled back, the weave moves back into place and a loop is created. The tension from the fabric moving back into place and the tension from the loops being closely packed together, keep your yarn in the fabric. That’s one of the reasons why if the weave is too loose, your yarn won’t stay in place.
